CAFE BLACKBIRD CIRCLE: Monday, January 9th

Monday, January 9th

Happy New Year!
The Circle will meet at our regular time from 6:30 to 8:30. We’ll be doing our regular Player’s Choice song selections, plus a selection of songs that will be played February 2 at World Ukulele Day. (Read on for the list, or to leave a comment with your song choice!)

Want to announce your song choice ahead of time so people can practice? Leave a comment with the title, songbook, and page number! Or if you’re bringing something not in the books, you can let us know about that, too.

Welcome to any new players who will be stopping in to check it out.

See you at Cafe Blackbird!

  1. Don’t know if this is the proper place BUT. Just heard on CBC very positive comments about CKUAs UKE Circle and the growing UKE community in Edmonton. Also info from Long and Mc about how many UKEs they had sold over Christmas. Sold out. And many new orders..
UKEs and their owners are taking over the world. Couldn’t think of a better group of people to run things.

    1. Hi, Jon! This might sound sappy, but here’s the newbie tip that would have helped me the most: don’t be intimidated – everybody is there for the same reason. (Note: this also works when you’re lining up for your flu shot.) If you’re looking for practical tips, here are a couple. If you’ve got a brand new (or fresh out of the attic) instrument, tune it up, or ask someone to help you out when you arrive. If you have the Daily Ukulele/Daily Ukulele Leap Year books, bring them (if not, somebody will share). Even if you’re just coming by to check out the scene before you invest in an instrument, you are super welcome. Sing along, talk to folks, buy a tasty dessert! You’ll find lots of people willing to share advice and show you their instruments. Looking forward to meeting you!
