It might sprinkle, but we’ll have a roof!

EVENT  Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:30 – 3:30.

WHERE?   John Janzen Nature Centre Compost Deck, 7000 143 St NW, Edmonton (Same parking lot as Fort Edmonton).

WHO?     Everyone is welcome. Players from groups all over the province are invited. Bring your friends and family! Make them sing!

HOW?     Format change for this year: instead of pre-chosen song lists, we’ll be playing songs from the Beloff Daily Ukulele / Daily Ukulele Leap Year books, chosen on the spot (Player’s Choice, circle style) and the mass of ukulele players will play them together. You don’t need to be in a group to come and play!

It’s free! No cost to you.

MORE INFO?     See the John Janzen Centre event page here on our site for more, including a list of some of our sweet door prizes.

Friends: Pleasantview Music Swap tonight

Musical Instrument Swap Meet at Pleasantview Hall

It’s Ukulele Jam Camp time!

  • WHEN      7 P. M. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018
  • WHERE    Pleasantview Hall
    10860 57 Avenue, Edmonton, AB
  • ADMISSION   $2.00

It’s time to clear out your music closet to make room for stuff from other people’s music closets!

The Music Swap Meet is presented by our good friends at the Northern Bluegrass Circle Society. There will be books, CDs, records, banjos, ukuleles, mandolins, PA equipment, and much more for sale. (Sometimes trade. Sometimes to give away.)

Free coffee and snacks. I hear there’s fried chicken and coleslaw, and a post-swap jam session too.

We’ll be meeting at our regular time, 2:00 – 4:30 at Bogani Cafe.
We’re continuing our musical journey through the blue Beloff Daily Ukulele Leap Year Edition. Our mandate is to attempt every song in the book.

During these sessions, we will all be challenged musically. We’ll play each song once to familiarize ourselves with the rhythm, melody and roadmap. Then we’ll go over it a second (or third) time to reinforce what we’ve just learned. Before we go on to the next song, I’ll ask you to share any tips or insights that you may have for me. Improvement, not perfection is our goal. And fun. Music is to be enjoyed. Let’s all learn to smile!

2:00-2:30 Arrival. Place café order at till. Greet and get to know each other. Tune your ukuleles. Settle in.

2:30-3:30 Song List*

3:30-4:00 Open Mic

This is an opportunity for you to stretch yourself in front of a friendly audience. Prepare a song to perform as a solo, or lead the group in a song of your own choosing. It can be a song we’ve already done, or something new. If you are leading a song that is not in the Blue book, bring along 20 charts.

4:00-4:30 Informal Strum Along with Friends

*The ones we don’t get to this month, we’ll start with next time. Some are quite demanding. I urge you to listen to them with play.riffstation.com

See you at Bogani Cafe!
