CAFE BLACKBIRD CIRCLE: Monday, April 24

Monday, April 24

The Circle will meet at our regular time from 6:30 to 8:30. We’re pretty good at filling the evening with Player’s Choice song selections, but occasionally people prefer to pass. This time, when somebody passes, we’ll cherrypick from a repertoire list (read on). Tonight we will also announce the tunes we’ll be playing at the John Janzen event in June..

(Read on for the repertoire list, or to leave a comment with your song choice!)

*NOTE DATE CHANGE* WOODCROFT LIBRARY: Sunday, April 23

It’s tomorrow, Sunday, April 23

The Circle will meet to talk about music from 2-4 on Sunday, April 23 at the Woodcroft Library, 13420 114 Avenue. Will we play a bit of music? Yeah, maybe! Bring your ukulele.

We’re gathering to discuss music and strategy for our summer fun events. The Woodcroft Library is just a bit north of Westmount Mall.

Among other things, we’ll be checking out some of the Car Songs suggested for our Vintage Auto gig, and era-appropriate tunes for Fort Edmonton. I’ve got a list of Zoo Tunes too, if you like!

(Read on to leave a comment with your own suggestion.)

Playalong: La La Blues – Pokey LaFarge

What’s a playalong? It’s where we put a video up and provide chords in the same key. Come on, admit it; you knew that one.

Pokey LaFarge heads a small acoustic band out of St. Louis, MO. They’re billed as American Roots musicians, but that doesn’t really cover it. You’ll hear blues, you’ll recognize bluegrass in there, and you’ll also notice a great deal of wit and swing. People call him a time traveler. That’s good enough.

CAFE BLACKBIRD CIRCLE: Monday, April 10

Monday, April 10th

The Circle will meet at our regular time from 6:30 to 8:30. We’ll be running through a repertoire list, being #5 and selections from #6 (read on) and discussing tunes we’ll add to our regular rotation. Of course, we’ll do Player’s Choice song selections, too.

Also, if you lost a rubber stamp, it has been found (Yellow plastic).
