It’s market day!

Come to the beach and drink lemonade while we entertain from 10:00 – noon this Saturday at the Seba Beach Market, 45 minutes west of Edmonton.

Weather should be nice. We encourage carpooling/ridesharing to the location. Please allow yourself an hour of travel time from the city to get there.

Players, please bring your own stand and books, or arrange to share. There is bench seating provided, or bring a chair. Meet outside the Seniors Centre, 109 1 St S, Seba Beach, AB.

10:00 – noon . If you’ve been to the market in previous years, please note the new location for 2018.

Come see our June Ukrainian Cultural Village gig from 3:30 – 4:45 on Sunday, June 24 at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, Highway 16, east of Edmonton, just east of Elk Island National Park.

Touchmark Wedgewood GIG: Wednesday, Jan 24, 2018

We’ll be performing at the Touchmark Wedgewood facility (Memory Care Unit) from 2:00-3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 24 at 18323 Lessard Rd NW. Memory Care is through the front entrance, and you will need to be buzzed in. We aim to set up at 1:45.

Any ukulele player is welcome to join us to perform with the group at this engagement. Chairs are provided, bring your own stand and at least your yellow book.

We’ll be playing songs selected from repertoire lists 8 and 9 (click to see them) and tunes chosen by the players who attend.

Ukrainian Cultural Village GIG: Sunday, June 25, 2017

TWO BANDS NEEDED – UP TO 24 PLAYERS TOTAL

The Circle will meet for our June Ukrainian Cultural Village gig from 1-3 on Sunday, June 25 at the Ukrainian Cultural Village, Highway 16, east of Edmonton, just east of Elk Island National Park. RAIN OR SHINE, my dears. It’s vintage vehicle day! We encourage carpooling/ridesharing to the location. Please allow yourself an hour of travel time from the city to get there.

Any circle member is welcome to sign up to perform with the group at this engagement. Chairs are provided, bring your own stand and books, or arrange to share.

There are two performance stages, one in the courtyard (#68 on the park map, same place as last year if you played) and one on the flatbed stage in the vehicle exhibit area (unknown exact location, but pretty obvious once we arrive). We are fielding two groups of players, one for each stage, as the performances will overlap. So yes, two bands. Players wishing to accommodate physical access requirements will probably prefer the courtyard side.

COURTYARD:  1:30 – 2:30    FLATBED STAGE:  2 – 3.

PLEASE ARRIVE BY 1:00 PM TO ALLOW FOR STAGE TIME CHANGES.

We’ll be playing songs selected from our repertoire lists (click to see them) and probably working with lists 12, 13, and 14, as well as other vintage (pre-1935) tunes.

We’ll be performing at the Laurier Heights Seniors Community Tea gig from 3:00-4:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 8 at the Laurier Heights Community League, 14405 82 Avenue.

We had a good time!

There were 20 or so players throughout the morning. We were pleased to welcome a visitor from the Saskatoon Ukulele Circle, David, who was in town for the Jake Shimabukuro show and stuck around to come play!

We had a nice group photo taken — I’ll put it up when I receive it. WE LOOK SO CLASSY, Y’ALL.

CITY HALL MARKET GIG: Saturday, March 11, 2017

The Circle will meet for our City Market gig from 9-12 on Saturday, March 11 at the Edmonton City Hall, 1 Sir Winston Churchill Square.

Any ukulele player is welcome to join us to perform with the group at this engagement. You don’t have to stay for the whole three hours in order to participate. Chairs are provided, bring your own stand.

We’ll be playing songs selected from our repertoire lists (click to see them) and picking a couple of extras from the books. We hope to have it work out just like a long circle meeting — with the flexibility to suggest songs and play them.
